Since festivals are officially back on this year, it is time to decide which campsite will let you have more than 2 hours of sleep, without waking up to your tent on fire.

Red is camp your in-between camp as it is lively and has an amazing nightlife and is known for an almost neighborhood-esque atmosphere. Unlike yellow and blue camp, it has more space and is less cramped so is good for getting home without tripping over guy lines. It is full of teenagers, so if you want an older scene, don’t camp here. It is one of the closest to the stages and is right at the entrance so you do not have to walk miles when you turn up/ want to leave. However, it is on top of a hill, so unless you are prepared to stumble up a hill at 6 in the morning, this isn’t the camp for you. As it is on a hill, your tent is less likely to get flooded if it rains though so you have to weigh up the pros and cons.

Both brown and green camp are fairly quiet camps, you can probably get over 4 hours of sleep there as it is more closely aimed at families and those with campervans and is the furthest from the arena. However, this means it is a fair trek from the arena so it is not a good option if you are planning to get mangled.

Blue camp is close to everything (food, showers, toilets, and arena) and is similar to yellow camp with a sociable feel. It is at the bottom of the hill to red camp so it is good for red camp vibes without the hill the trek. It is the camp which everyone has to walk through though so you cannot escape the drunk people falling on your tent.

Yellow is the closest to the arena so is the best to camp at if you want to pop back for sneaky drinks in between acts. It is definitely the busiest at night and the best for after parties and meeting new people. Do not stay at yellow camp if you want to actually sleep.

Orange camp is where the fairground attractions are so you are closer to the action but will have to deal with the noise so sleeping is not always easy. A steep hill separates this camp so it can be pretty difficult to climb in bad weather and with all your stuff, but once you pitch up it is only a 10-minute walk to the arena.

Purple camp is right next to orange so you can still expect some of the noise from rides but not as much as an atmosphere compared to orange. It is a great spot if you want to attend the Piccadilly party, meaning you can still get a fairly good night’s sleep.

Each camp is different so depending on what kind of vibe you are seeking; they can accommodate all. There are always horror stories about fires and tent slashing but no camp will completely keep you safe from these so just try and not cause trouble with people and you will be fine. There is security everywhere watching out for people all night so do not be too scared.
