Centre Court, a small shopping mall based in the heart of Wimbledon, is a place all locals have definatley been to in their lifetime. It’s the hub of chain stores from Oliver Bonas to Paper Chase and attracts the tourists that visit Wimbledon tennis every year, hence being called Centre Court, the famous court where celebrities like Serena Williams have previously played in.

Centre Court's economic impact due to Covid-19 is evident. Below there are a few experiences from the locals in Wimbledon who have been to Centre Court recently, read below to find more about this:

Locals from Wimbledon give their recent experiences visiting Centre Court:

“When I go to centre court I notice after school it’s a lot busier compared to the mornings where it looks almost empty. Most people go to centre court for the Tesco, Superdrug or for bubble tea but other than that it's not where I would usually go to buy things.”

“It looks liked the whole of the top floor was empty, and even the ones open were lowered footfall. It's sad to see so many of my favourite shops disappear.”

Although having stores from the biggest retailers like H&M, McDonalds and Boots, Centre court has been seen to be suffering with COVID-19 only amplifying their situation. People are coming less often to the shopping centre due to the online shopping market which has rapidly grown in the given pandemic as more people have become more aware of the easiness to shop online from the comfort of your own home. We need to support the local shopping centre and help it become the heart of Wimbledon again by going there whenever we can.
