Marcus Gayle believes Neal Maupay and Sergi Canos will be Premiership footballers, but not just yet.
Speaking after Brentford’s 2-0 win over promotion chasing Leeds United on Easter Monday where both men were on target the former Bees and Dons hitman praised the pair.
Having made over 200 appearances in the top-flight Gayle knows what’s required to make it in the Premiership.
“There’s still a long way to go because the Premier League is a different ball game,” he said.
“The mentality is different.
“Everything is done a fraction, or a few fractions quicker.
“I think Neal will eventually play Premier League because he’s a goal scorer, has he got enough to get there now? I’m not to sure, same with Sergi.
“Sergi is a great player, he’s benefitting from a run of games and established himself as one of the main wingers.
“We’ve got some great talent down at Brentford and there’s a good few we want to hang on to.
“Hopefully we can keep them.”

Canos was in inspiring mood as Thomas Frank’s side saw of Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds to climb to 15th in the table.
Setting up Maupay and grabbing a goal himself the Spaniard deservedly picked up the Man of The Match gong despite limping off with ten minutes to go.
Gayle believes if the club can kick on under Frank, they could compete for promotion next season.
“We aren’t too far away,” he professed.
“The team will mature, if we can retain some players we’ve got a chance!”
