The special summer , the summer we all remember, the summer we will never forget. The summer of the London 2012 Olympics. The Olympics kicked off with a powerful , fiery , patriotic opening ceremony depicting Great Britain’s transition from an agricultural country to a powerful industry based economy through the industrial revolution. We all remember those symbolic rings forming out of fire to represent the start of the Olympics.

These olympics went down in many people’s memories , from Mo Farah’s long distance wins to the memorable super Saturday where Britain won 3 gold medals in one Saturday. The atmosphere was described as ‘electric’ and ‘emphatic’ a roar of British pride buzzed around the stadium. For me personally I do not usually feel proud to be British but the olympics cultivated a sense of national pride that I rarely feel. Whether it stemmed from the emphatic organisation or the fantastic wins produced by the British athletes it was something about the olympics that made me say I was proud to be British. It was a once in a Life Time opportunity and I’m delighted I took it , those memories will stay with me forever and will be passed down many generations.
