As this dreaded pandemic develops and the uncertainty of when it shall end is filling the minds of people, we sadly have heard the words “cancelled” and “postponed” in regards to all manners of events and plans for the start of this decade.

In my case, as well as millions of others at all ages, I have found out that concerts I had been so thrilled for will sadly have to be rescheduled, not only to the end of this year, when our lives will hopefully be at least slightly less chaotic, but to next year as well.

For some it may sound like an unimportant occurrence during these unstable times, with much more significant things happening. However, when you also put into account the other things being cancelled and postponed, like the 2020 Olympics, other sporting events and Eurovision as well, that brings together so many people from multiple countries, it’s obvious to see that it could have a large impact as billions will miss out on their favourite parts of the year. Even though it may not seem important to have all these events in our lives, for the people that enjoy them, it could easily aid the build-up of sadness in these upcoming months and uncertainty as they just do not know what will happen anymore.

The unified feeling of unhappiness through this, as well as everything else occurring, highlights how we must make sure we look after each other and find entertainment in other things. For example: picking up new hobbies or remembering the ones you have not been able to focus on due to the busyness of everyday life. Even if we are not able to go out to concerts or sporting events, we can still go out into the garden, on your own or with those you are self- isolated with, and read or play sports yourselves and listen to all the music you have wanted to or even learn some instruments yourselves to keep up the hope for the rest of this decade.
