In recent times, it is important to look out for the people who are at risk of the Corona Virus. As young people, we can do a lot to help neighbours, friends and family. These following small steps could make huge differences to peoples lives.

The first step is just a simple phone call. As we all limit leaving the house, lack of communication and contact could make some elderly people feel really lonely. And that’s the last thing anyone wants to feel at this time. Ringing people and having conversations for 30 minutes could make their day and even make yours!

Another way of helping out elderly people, could be picking up some extra supplies for them when you go shopping. Make sure you don’t shop specifically for them, but whilst you’re already shopping, as we need to limit travel. Another note to make is to leave the shopping at the front of their drive or a place where you don’t have to make contact with them.

If they have dogs, dog walking is a great idea to help elderly neighbours out. Not only can it help you get out the house and breathe in fresh air, but also prevent the elderly from getting ill whilst out. Similarly, washing their cars and doing activities for them without making contact with them would help them stay on top of their work.

However, the most important thing is to remember stay safe and indoors as much as you can. But also remember, that there are other people who are far more at risk that you can help, no matter how small the help seems.
