On the 18th of March the Harold Pinter Theatre put on one of its performances of Betrayal, starring Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Charlie Cox. The play, written by Pinter himself, tells the story of three people and their relationships with each other, but unusually travels back through time, starting at the story’s ‘end.’ Centring around a married couple and the affair between the wife and the husband’s best friend, the play was fascinating and very enjoyable to watch.
Gillian Hughes notes how she ‘thought it was excellent.’ She states that ‘the staging was excellent and the actors outstanding.’ The play used the stage to show how the characters moved away from each other throughout the play, utilising a circular movement of the stage to portray the changes in the characters and their relationships.
Overall, the play was performed and executed incredibly well, with fantastic actors and an intriguing use of staging. The engaging storyline was brought out by the captivating performances of the actors, and the play was well received by its audience.
