During the last few hours the entire globe has faced a "dramatic" event: Instagram and Facebook, two main social media platforms, appeared to have several technical issues.
In the last 24 hours there have been many reports, where 46% of people report to have problems in loggin in, while others simply can't get into the app or post any picture, and receive error messages.
While Facebook and Instagram ceased to work, there has been a rapid increase in people using Twitter to expose their frustation and anger for this incident by spreding the new hashtags: #instagramdown and #facebookdown.
"We are aware that some poeple are currently having troubles accessing". This is the answer that Facebook gave through its Twitter account, which announces "We are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible" and "confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack".
The number of people reporting problems of social media platforms and the amount of comments, made me reflect on how this is such a small thing, compared to other global issues, such as global warming and wars. However, because of the rapid development of technologies of the last 20 years, we are becoming more and more addicted to internet and social media, causing us to worry and focus more on problems like the interruption of the functioning of Instagram and Facebook, instead of more urgent issues that not only are going to affect us, but also the next generations.
Now, the question that we all ask ourselves is: When will we able to access the two platforms and go back to our "normal life", which involves social media?
