Over the last decade, technology has grown rapidly, and everyday we are introduced to new and exciting innovations and unimaginable products. Artificial Intelligence or AI for short, is transforming and evolving the way we go about our lives and how we see the world - now transformed into a world we largely view through our phones.

This is especially impacting young people who have grown up in a society where ever changing technology is the norm, and the impact of the still relatively new concept of social media is only now being questioned. And what will AI mean for the next generation? How will it impact young peoples’ futures and the job market when increasing amounts of jobs, currently done by people, are replaced by machines or robots.

So far AI is still in its infancy, but we witness it in action at the self checkout tills in stores. This has meant a reduction of cashier jobs, as less people are needed to work in these stores, and are left without jobs. In the future it is predicted that we will encounter this with many other basic jobs throughout industries and businesses where a human work force is no longer needed. Workers will need to re-train and up-skill to find work, AI will open up other types of opportunities, in programming and engineering.

However, some positive impacts of newly developed technology are that they can help us to learn more things about the world and continue to make epic discoveries. In the future, who knows what new and exciting technology will be introduced, and will it have a positive or negative impact on people’s lives? Will the next generation even need to learn how to drive a car, or will our cars do the driving for us.
