Friday 23 February saw the VIP opening of a new gym facility in Addlestone Town Centre as part of the redevelopment scheme taking place in the town.  This is the first phase of the redevelopment that has seen the opening of a hotel and new Waitrose supermarket as well as residential flats and a new gym operated by Achieve Lifestyle.

Last month members of the local community, including local counsellors and the Mayor of Runnymede, Councillor Iftikhar Chaudhri attend the VIP opening.  The Mayor officially opened the gym by cutting the red ribbon with the gym opening to the public on Saturday 24 February 2018.  Those attending were encouraged to try out the new facilities and even come in gym kit!  Staff from Achieve Lifestyle were on hand to showcase the new equipment and assist where required.

As the Mayor of Runnymede summarised,

I am extremely pleased to support the opening of the new gym. I am sure it will bring a lot of energy into the Addlestone redevelopment as part of phase one, particularly for residents both new and old, and as it is so close to the Civic Offices I am sure many working locally will also benefit from such great facilities on their doorstep.”

The Achieve Zone Gym is the newest arrival to the development and will be offering 50 fitness classes ranging from spinning to mind and body sessions as well as 70 work out stations and bespoke instructor sessions and personal training.

The redevelopment of Addlestone is being carried out in phases and is on track to deliver much needed new shops, a cinema and gym and public spaces.  The development is a partnership between Runnymede Borough Council and Bouygues Developments with Phase 1 nearing completion and Phase 2 due for completion in Spring 2018. Addlestone town centre aims to create a thriving new heart to the town that responds to the needs of the community both present and future. The local authority, in much the same proactive vein as Woking Borough Council, is committed to improving infrastructure and public facilities in the area with further schemes planned for neighbouring Egham Town Centre and Egham Leisure Centre.
