Rosslyn Park’s 44-6 defeat of Richmond in last Friday’s derby lifted them back to second place in National League One, ahead of Coventry, who were defeated by Esher.

After a fairly even first half, which Park led thanks to a brace of tries from Welsh Sevens international winger, Adam Field, Park kicked on in the second half.

Dave Vincent, on the other wing, contributed four second half tries – including a hat-trick inside five minutes – and skipper Hugo Ellis weighed in with another as the Roehampton side tore apart their neighbours.

Head coach Alex Codling said: “I was extremely proud of the performance on Friday.

“Our intensity and accuracy with and without the ball was excellent.

“To win in the manner that we did, against a team who had recently drawn against two of the form teams in the division in Coventry and Blackheath, is testament to the effort that was put in by the starting 15 and the boys who came on from the bench."

Turning to Saturday’s match at home to basement club Macclesfield (kicking off at 3pm), Codling said: “This week we face a very resilient Macclesfield team who despite their league position, have been very competitive in games, this was highlighted by their performance against Blackheath last time out.

“They arrive at the Rock with nothing to lose which makes them very dangerous”.

Codling should have more or less a full squad to pick from this weekend, the only doubts being flanker Harry Broadbent, who has a niggling leg injury, and lock Richard Boyle with an injured hand.
