London Scottish travel to Nottingham on Friday in confident mood despite a winless start to the season.

Following the loss to Richmond, a poor first half against Ealing handed Scottish a 31-36 defeat despite an impressive second half rally.

It’s the second half performance that Scottish’ winger Rob Stevenson looks to take on their trip up the M1.

“Everyone took a lot of heart from that second half and we’ve shown enough from the weekend to get some wins throughout the season,” said Stevenson.

“Everyone had Ealing marked as ones to watch and we pushed them really close, we take a lot of confidence from that.”

Scottish found themselves 36-12 down after 43minutes and Stevenson has lamented their slow start to leaving them with too much to do.

“In the last 2 games started really slow so this week we’re focussing on coming out the gate flying (against Nottingham).”

“We are creating a lot of opportunities in attack but if you give teams like Ealing as much ball as we gave them in the first half, include missed tackles, then we’re always going to have a tough time.

“All the best teams do the basics well, and when we’ve done that we’ve laid solid foundations to play and keep the ball for multiple phases and we’ve looked dangerous.”

Nottingham currently sit bottom of the league following successive defeats to Bedford and London Irish, although Stevenson won’t be taking anything for granted.

“It’s a tough place to go and get a result, when you play against Nottingham you’ve got to be disciplined or they’ll keep the ball for long periods and punish you. That said, we’re confident of going up there and getting the win.”

Following two appearances from the bench Stevenson is set to start his first game of the season on Friday night.

“Last year was a tough year for me with the injury in my first year as pro.

“I had some trouble with injury in preseason as well but now I’m just really excited to get out there and show the coaches what I can do.”

Scottish scored five tries against Ealing including two tries from impressive wing Charlie Ingall, giving the Richmond based club two losing bonus points and putting them 10th in the Greene King IPA Championship.
