Thomas Frank was pleased with his teams performance, despite their narrow home defeat to Leicester in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s 4th minute goal was enough to secure Leicester’s place in the 5th round of the FA cup and knock Brentford out of football’s oldest cup competition.
“I’m very pleased with the performance. You can’t ask for more. They put everything out there and I’ve praised the players in the changing room”, he said.
Frank spoke highly of Leicester’s performance, but felt that Brentford deserved more from the game.
“They were brave, pressed aggressively and I know they scored early with a bit of brilliance and Premier League class but we created opportunities and at least a draw would’ve been a fair result”.
On FA Cup replays
Frank was quick to criticize the cup competition’s replay system, which has come under scrutiny from a number of different managers in recent years.
“I think that part’s killing it. The cup competition is being killed by the replays. I love the idea of this country having two cup competitions but there doesn’t need to be replays. In general, I don’t think it helps”.
On Transfers
When asked about the potential to sign Arsenal striker Folarin Bolagun, Frank kept his cards close to his chest.
“I’m pleased with the squad we have so far and the boys have shown we have strength but we are ready and interested should options open. We are looking at every position, it’s not just a striker”.
