Brentford FC’s least loyal fan is to take his support of the club to a new level this weekend when he walks 27 miles to raise funds for the supporters’ trust.

The Bees have been backed by Spencer Austin – the Gloryhunter – for almost a month since they beat Grimsby Town 4-0 as he has pledged to travel the country supporting different teams for the duration of the season, but only until they lose.

The author/producer is writing a book called I Am The Gloryhunter and producing a web-based TV show for ITV.com/football about his year, which involves living in hotels around the country and getting to know the area in which he is staying.

He watched as Brentford extended their unbeaten run to five matches with a 2-1 win over Dagenham and Redbridge last Saturday and will now follow the club to their away match at Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow, Saturday, September 13.

The Gloryhunter pledged to join a small group of Bees fans on their walk to Wycombe to raise money for Bees United – the supporters trust which has the majority share holding in the club – and will make good that promise.

“I’m a man of my word,” he wrote on his blog. “So, 27 miles next Saturday and I expect my entire lower leg areas to become an enormous blood blister.

“I’m doing it for the Supporters’ Trust, so there will be collection buckets where people can chuck their wages.”
