RICHMOND suffered their third successive defeat with a 99- run loss at home to league leaders and local rivals Ealing on Saturday.

Simon Snelling picked up three wickets before lunch for Richmond to leave Ealing on 112-4. The visitors eventually made 219-9 dec from 62 overs.

Ben Way and Owen Hewlett hit 35 to set a platform before Hewlett was adjudged lbw.

The innings never gained momentum as Matt Healey's 18 overs of medium pace whittled away the Richmond batting line.

Ned Nicol provided the main resistance as the hosts battled for a draw, but his dismissal triggered a defeat which leaves Richmond just three points ahead of the second bottom team.

On Saturday Richmond will attempt to start their recovery at Finchley before taking on Osterley in the Evening Standard Cup fourth round on Sunday at Old Deer Park.

The second XI won at Finchley on Saturday set 186 in 46 overs, Richmond clinched victory with four overs to spare.

A 205-run sixth-wicket partnership was not enough to secure Teddington victory at Brondesbury on Saturday.

Teddington slumped to 27-5 before Toby Bailey (111) and Neil Millar (93 not out) took them to 275 dec.

In reply Ian Harrison dismissed both openers, but Matt Mountain took the game to the home side, bludgeoning 135 not out from 110 balls.

Harrison grabbed two further wickets but Brondesbury reached the target with seven overs to spare. Teddington host Eastcote on Saturday.

The second XI beat Brentham to stay top of the league, while the thirds lost to South Hampstead.

On Sunday Teddington played Hampstead in the regional final of the Cockspur National Cup.

Hampstead's Mark Harvey (35) and Roy Nadim (49) carried the score to 82 before Teddington took a firm hold of the game.

Captain Robin Jones took three wickets as the visitors were dismissed for 165.

In reply opener Vern Hill punished the bowlers scoring a rapid 48 before being caught shortly after fellow opener Ben Duncan had been dismissed.

An unbeaten century stand between James Keightley (60) and Jeremy Attfield (39) saw Teddington to victory.

They will visit Horsham in the last 16 of the competition on July 10.

Malden Wanderers suffered a four-wicket defeat by Weybridge in the Premier Division of the Castle Lager Surrey Championship.

Stewart Walters scored 94 not out to steer Malden to 204, but dropped catches proved costly in Weybridge's reply.

Andy Muggleton (72 not out) and Tim Hodgson (58) were both put down early in their innings and Weybridge took full advantage of their escapes.

Sixth-placed Malden's next game is at home to Wimbledon.

Barnes suffered a two-run defeat despite the heroics of Ed Craig at Hornsey in Division Two of the Middlesex County League on Saturday.

The medium-pacer took 7-46 from 16 overs, to help limit Hornsey to 138 after being well placed at 70-0.

Geoff Piggot took 3-19 with his off-spinners.

In reply, Chaston and Fraser Stewart put on 46 for the first wicket and, even at 70-2, a home victory looked likely.

But a collapse saw Barnes fall agonisingly short and drop to 20 points behind second place.

Barnes have an all-day game at Southgate on Saturday (11.30am).

Sunny Mendis steered Kingstonian to victory against Ripley on Saturday before going straight to Kingston Hospital for stitches after cutting his ear while batting.

There was never any chance of the Sri Lankan retiring hurt after he came to the wicket with the hosts 109-6 in reply to the visitors' 235-6 dec.

Aussie Matt Counsell smashed 141 not out for Ripley, but Mendis (61 not out) steered Ks to a fourth-straight win, supported by Imran Khalid (44) and Nadim Malik (25 not out). Ks host Epsom on Saturday.

Ashford number 11 batsman Neil Smith secured a four-run victory over Epsom on Saturday.

Rob Gaines took 5-27 and Wendall Sebastian 4-11, but Epsom recovered from 50-8 to reach 122 all out from 50 overs.

Wickets tumbled in reply and batsman Kevin Lambert was caught going for winning runs with three wickets left to leave Ashford 122-9, but Smith completed the victory.

Steve Adams took 7-24 as Ashford seconds secured their first win of the season at Albury.

Kew have been caught at the top of the Thames Valley League after Saturday's defeat.

Skipper Rob Tindall took 7-75 as they dismissed Burnham II for 211.

Paul Abbott continued his recent good form with 43 to get Kew off to a solid start, but Burnham's spinners ripped through the batting, and only Andrew Weeks (25) offered further resistance as they were all out for 114 after 32 overs.

Burnham II have joined Kew as joint league leaders.

Kew seconds were beaten by six wickets at Beaconsfield.

Stuart Cosstick hit 63 and Paul Farris 40 as Kew made 207 all out, but Beaconsfield reached their target with four overs to spare.

Lewis Abbott's scored 102 not out as the thirds total 305-8, but Kidmore End won by three wickets, despite Hitesh Rathod's 5-46.

A DROPPED catch in the final over of the game consigned NPL Teddington to defeat to Beaconsfield.

Batting first, NPL scored 208-6, thanks to Neil Barnett (71) and Chris Churchman (57) in a partnership of 104.

Ian Broady (5-75) and Jim Feltham (4-55) helped put Beaconsfield under increasing pressure and, when Broady dismissed their number ten at the start of the last over, victory looked possible. But a firm shot slipped through the fingers of mid-off and the match was lost.

The second XI had the best of a draw against Marlow Park with Alistair Darby scoring 98, while the third and fourth sides slipped to defeat against their opponents.

On Sunday, the club held its annual six-a-side competition, won by Hampton Hill.

WORCESTER PARK scored a 119-run victory over Southern Railway thanks to flawless fielding and a six-wicket haul from John Daniell.

Park set a target of 199-7 dec, with Chris Palmer (57) scoring his maiden half-century for the club and Ed Southey stroking 77 off 94 balls, before skittling the visitors for just 80.

Left-arm spinner Daniell bettered his 6-37 against Ripley by one run, bowling danger man Dexter Smith (2) and Australian Paul St Quentin (9) in the process of dismissing the top five batsmen.

His brother Steve Daniell held three sharp chances close-in and Joe Hill produced an electrifying run-out.

HAMPTON Hill escaped with a draw after Saturday's game at Thatcham was abandoned.

Heavy rain, which fell as Hill defended a 169 run lead, saw the umpires stop the game with the home side needing just 65 to win.

On Sunday Hill smashed their way to six wins out of six to win NPL's six-a-side tournament.

Twickenham Ladies secured a comfortable 72-run victory at home over Blackheath.

Lucy Neto (45), Kate Sinfield (40) and Ann Baker (31) led the way as Twickenham made 144-5. Baker then took 3-4 as Blackheath were skittled for 72.

Twickenham face Gunners-bury at Ealing on Saturday.
