Here’s how the Brentford players rated in their 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.

David Raya 6

Had little to do in the opening half apart from pick the ball out the back of the net.

Rico Henry 6
Got forward well and showed great speed up and down the flank. In front of goal needs some work though. Made one vital intervention at the back post to deny Lewis Grabban to keep Brentford in the tie.

Ethan Pinnock 5

Looked a player short on confidence. Not what you want against a wily operator like Lewis Grabban. Lucky not concede a penalty in the second half and will be counting own the days until Pontus Jansson is alongside him.

Julian Jeanvier 6

Swept up well at the back and played his way out of trouble nicely throughout. Looks to be out of the slump in form that saw him benched earlier this season.

Henrik Dalsgaard 6

Got forward frequently and provided a few decent crosses. A steady operator down the right he provided the platform to allow Bryan Mbeumo to concentrate on attacking.

Christian Norsgaard 6

Does the dirty work in the middle. Wins possession and keeps possession. Looked one of the few who were up for the fight against a physical and niggly outfit.

Mathias Jensen 7

Brentford’s best player. Looked the man likely to unlock a well organised Forest defence. Surprised to be hooked with 20 to go.

Josh Dasilva 5

Quiet evening for the youngster. Couldn’t get on the ball enough and impose himself on a very physical Forest side.

Bryan Mbeumo 5

Couldn’t get into the game. Often cut inside but found a Forest player waiting for him. They’d done their homework.

Said Benrahma 6

Nothing seemed to come off for the mercurial talent. More than once his crossing let him down, failing to clear the first man. Frustrating.

Ollie Watkins 5

Not his night. He won’t need telling he should’ve put Benraham in first half. Lacked awareness when it mattered.

Emiliano Marcondes 6

Had little time to make an impact but did see one effort well saved.
