Lee Bowyer takes his Charlton side to Preston confident they can secure their first win in four games.

Following up a hard-fought 2-2 draw with West Brom last weekend the Addicks look to climb away from the Championship trap door with a victory at Deepdale.

Preston, themselves looking for a win to re-ignite promotion hopes after going six games without a victory, stand in Bowyer’s way.

Alex Neil’s side took the spoils when they met at The Valley earlier in the season, when an injury ravaged Charlton outfit fell to a Paul Gallagher penalty.

“I’ve watched games and they’ve got a certain way of playing,” Bowyer said.

“They’re a very good side and it’s a hard place to go.

“It’s going to be tough, they’re strong, physical with good players.

“When we played them at our place we lost on a penalty, so do I believe we can go there and win? Of course I do.

“I know they’ll give 100 percent and when you do that you’ve got a chance.

“It’ll be a hard game because there are no easy games.

“The manager’s done great, they’ve slowly built a Championship squad and every year they get better.

“We’ll respect them like every team but we’ll go there to get three points.”

A trip to Preston also means there’ll be a chance to get reacquainted with Charlton hero, Pat Bauer.

“I don’t keep in touch with players I was playing with!

“Players I played eight or so years with, and I haven’t kept in touch with Pat.

“Pat’s a good lad, a good professional and he’s a big part why we are in this division.

“I wish him all best, I’ll shake his hand, hopefully he’ll score an own goal and help us out a bit!”
