Fresh from guiding Richmond back to winning ways on Saturday, fly-half Tom Hodgson believes his club have turned an important corner in their season.

The summer signing, who played a pivotal role in Richmond’s 23-14 victory over Cambridge last Saturday, says the club have the ability to push even further ahead in the league and reignite their early season form.

“Saturday’s win over Cambridge was massively important for our club, not only was it our first in three fixtures, it also was the type of victory which will inspire us to continue improving and developing our game”, Hodgson said.

In a gutsy second half performance, Richmond withstood a determined Cambridge side to score 20 unanswered points and clinch their tenth victory of the season, breaking a horrid run of three defeats. It also meant Richmond remain on equal terms with local rivals Rosslyn Park at the top of the National League 1 table.

For Hodgson who has developed into Richmond’s first choice fly-half over recent weeks with his slick passing and tactical right boot, Saturday’s home fixture against Birmingham Moseley provides another unique opportunity to rediscover their best form.

“Winning on Saturday has given us a huge boost and we can’t wait to get out there in front of our home fans and improve even further against a tough Moseley side.

“They’re notoriously a very physical team who love to dominate the set piece and pressure you into making mistakes.

“As a club we’re really confident we can withstand their early barrage, perform to our best and hopefully secure another important win as we head into the Christmas break.”

Richmond host Birmingham Moseley at the Athletic Ground this Saturday 14th December (KO 3pm). Tickets are on sale via the club website or at the gate.
