On a Tuesday night at Fetcham Grove, Leatherhead and Haringey Borough played out a five-goal thriller with the avisitors returning to North London with all three points.

The Tanners started the front foot pinning Haringey back into their half but without fully testing Valery Pajetet in goal.

Thanks to a dubious penalty decision, the game swung in momentum for Haringey after the ball struck Misha Djmaili’s arm inside the area.
Borough’s number nine, Chiduben Onokwai, stepped up and confidently dispatched the ball into the top corner.

Following some quick-fire chances, Leatherhead should have been level when Calvin Ekpiteta failed to take full advantage of a free header and Eddie Dsane flashed a shot wide after the ball broke to him in the box.

The first half was a tale of two penalties and The Tanners had their own just before half time after Dsane was fouled in the area for the second game running. The striker calmly slotted into the bottom corner to double his tally for the season.

With the sides coming out for the second half level, it was Haringey who grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and took the lead in the 51st minute when Romoluwa Akinola slammed home after Will Salmon failed to deal with a low cross.

The Borough added to their lead when Jorge Djassi-Sambu leapt highest at a corner to power a header past a helpless Zaki Oualah following a period of domination for the visitors.

With Leatherhead pushing for a way back into the game, Haringey remained dangerous on the break and almost added a fourth in the 72nd minute.
Onokwai escaped the Tanners defence to meet a cross but saw his effort cannon off the bar and to safety.

A last gasp goal by Dan Gallagher set up a grandstand finish but it proved too little too late as The Tanners fell to defeat in their first game of the season at Fetcham Grove.
