Thomas Frank aims to make Brentford’s final season at Griffin Park ‘magical.’

The Bees host Birmingham City on Saturday in their season opener, the last to be had at their 115-year-old home in TW8 before they move to their brand-new stadium.

Frank, taking charge of his first full season admitted he wants to leave Griffin Park on a high.

“We need to give the fans some fantastic experiences and joy,” Frank told Brentford FC.

“We’re massively looking forward to starting, we know it’s the farewell season and we need to do everything we can to make this last season magical.

“We need to play forward, with a lot of energy and do everything we can to win.

“We need the fans, we need them to back us, as we know there’ll be ups and downs, but at home we know we have a fortress.”

Richmond and Twickenham Times:

Brentford have seen a huge turnaround in playing personnel at the club this summer, with the key departures of Ezri Konsa, Romaine Sawyers, Daniel Bentley, Yoann Barbet, counterbalanced with the arrivals of Pontus Jansson, Mathias Jensen, Christian Norgaard, David Raya, Ethan Pinnock and Joel Valencia.

With rumours still circulating over the futures Neal Maupay, Ollie Watkins and Saed Benrahma, Frank although admitting he can give no guarantees over their futures, insisted the club will have a stronger squad than at the start of the transfer window.

“They are here at the club, they train so they’re available for selection on Saturday.

“I want to hold on to the best players of course, but If we can’t I want just as good a replacement.

“Our aim is that our squad is stronger than it was at the end of last season.”

The Bees boss confirmed Benrahma will not be available for the visit of Pep Clotet’s side as he recovers from injury.

Birmingham have been buoyed by the news that their £7million summer signing Ivan Sunjic has been declared fit for the visitors, Frank however remained positive.

“We’d have a tough game no matter who we play in the first game.

“But, I back my team and know if we are on it, I’m very confident.”
