Kingstonian manager Dean Brennan has been busy putting his stamp on the club this week by bringing in three players and releasing one.

Brennan, who is keen to lead K's back to their glory days, has secured the services of defensive trio Tom Bird, Jonathan Muleba and Ismail Yakubu while striker Elliott Buchanan has joined league leaders Dorking Wanderers.

Bird in no stranger to K's fans having played for the club during two previous spells.

The widely-travelled left-back returns from Merstham having had also played for Carshalton Athletic, Gosport Borough and Basingstoke Town.

Muleba joins the Brennan revolution having most recently turned out for National League side Braintree Town where he was part of their successful promotion campaign last season.

The right-back has appeared for a host of non-league clubs including Poole Town, Bishop's Stortford and Folkestone Invicta.

Yakubu is a well-respected centre-back who is vastly experienced having played for Barnet, Wimbledon, Woking and Newport County.

The 33-year-old played under Brennan at Hemel Hempstead and brings a wealth of experience to the heart of the K's defence.

Yakubu was part of the Wimbledon side which broke into the Football League in 2011 with victory over Luton Town in the play-off final at the City of Manchester Stadium.

He also played in the FA Trophy Final at Wembley for Newport Country in 2012 as well as the National League play-off final a year later.

Buchanan left K's this week having cancelled his contract by mutual consent. He scored 15 goals in 32 appearances for the club since joining from Staines Town last summer.

Buchanan's new side has a vice-like grip at the top of the Bostik League Premier Division, opening a nine point lead from Haringey Borough with 11 games to go.

Kingstonian's new-look defence will be tested at fellow mid-table side Brightlingsea Regent this Saturday (February 23, 3pm). K's next home game is against Wingate and Finchley on Saturday, March 2.

Kingstonian fans will have the chance to question Brennan at a Meet the Manager event on Friday, March 8 at King George's Field, Tolworth. The session kicks-off at 7.30pm.
