Brentford’s winless run has been stretched to nine games after Norwich City’s first half strike consigned them to defeat at Carrow Road.

Kamohelo Mokotjo was lost to injury less than half an hour in before Emi Buendia handed the Canaries the lead in the 34th minute.

The visitors could’ve been two behind, but penalty heroics from goalkeeper Daniel Bentley denied Jordan Rhodes with virtually the last kick of the half.

A quiet second 45 minutes saw arguably Brentford’s best chance all game fall to the Championship’s leading scorer Neal Maupay, but he rattled the crossbar from just five yards out.

Here’s how we rated Brentford’s players…

Daniel Bentley – 7 – Made a penalty save to deny Jordan Rhodes, didn’t see much come his way in the second half.

Henrik Dalsgaard – 6 – Defended reasonably, made well-timed runs down the flank to supply help in attack.

Ezri Konsa – 7 – Think both him and Mepham should share blame for the goal but he tidied up and made life tough for Jordan Rhodes

Chris Mepham – 7 – As above, both him and Konsa carry responsibility for the Buendia opener. Not much went wrong thereafter, though.

Yoann Barbet – 6 – Norwich’s deep overlapping runs from their full backs caused him some issues, though he held his own.

Kamohelo Mokotjo – 5 – His injury unfortunately overshadowed the afternoon for him. Replaced with McEachran after 28 minutes.

Nico Yennaris – 6 – Broke up play well in the first half, though shortly before and after he was taken off Marco Stiepermann had much more freedom.

Romaine Sawyers – 6 – Tried to find Canos, Maupay, and Watkins with incisive through passes but they were promptly cut out by the Norwich defence.

Sergi Canos – 4 – Had a shot from distance early on but was this was far from his best performance. Promptly withdrawn for Benrahma.

Ollie Watkins – 5 – Was it a penalty? Yes, probably. Like Canos, he struggled. Played the full 90 minutes but Norwich were a step ahead defensively.

Neal Maupay – 6 – Could be forgiven for the chance being an awkward one. He constantly ran into what looked like brick walls in Klose and Zimmermann.
