A new initiative designed to help older generations live life to the full launches WE100 Park Walks for the Richmond & Twickenham community.

RESIDENTS of the Richmond & Twickenham community are invited to dig out their comfiest shoes and grab their water bottles, as a new community park walk arrives in Marble Hill Park, Twickenham next week 15th August, 11:00am.

Launched by WE100 - a global Merck Consumer Health initiative that aims to tackle negative perceptions of ageing and help prepare society to live 100 healthy years - the walk will be open to all members of the Richmond & Twickenham community.

The walk has been designed in collaboration with Urban Walks, to get people of all ages and abilities out and about in the local area, in support of a healthier lifestyle.

The walk follows research from WE100 which shows nearly 70 percent¹ of older Londoners are missing out on new experiences which could benefit them as they age - with a further 50 percent admitting being stuck in a routine stops them trying new things.

Merck Consumer Health Managing Director Heidi Gresle says: “At just half a mile long, the route is accessible for all walking abilities - so whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned hiker, it’s a great way to get out into the local area, meet new people and challenge yourself to try something different.

“The WE100 campaign is all about inspiring people to try something new for the first time, and help maintain mental and physical health into old age. Our WE100 team members will be volunteering their time in a range of different ways over the coming months to help support older generations become more integrated with our local communities.”

The WE100 walk will take place on 15th August at 11:00 am, and any budding walkers keen to get involved can meet the WE100 team at the Marble Hill Park meeting point near the carpark. Snacks, drinks and more information about the WE100 campaign will also be provided.
