A third Inbetweeners film has been officially confirmed to be in production by Netflix.

A teaser video was posted to the Netflix UK social media accounts today (Monday, September 7) to announce this.

It said: "Ooh, Netflix friends.

"THE INBETWEENERS 3.

"Now filming."

The brief clip features Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison, and James Buckley climbing into the famous 1996 Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii edition car from the original series.

After Joe initially fails to start the engine, the car eventually splutters into life, and the number three can then be seen in the rear windshield before they drive off from a storage unit.

The Inbetweeners originally aired on E4 from 2008 to 2010, following the misadventures of Will McKenzie (Bird), Jay Cartwright (Buckley), Neil Sutherland (Harrison), and Simon Cooper (Thomas).

Two films followed in 2011 and 2014, both enjoying box office success.

While the main cast is confirmed to return, other casting details have not yet been revealed.

The movie will be written and directed by original creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris.

Beesley and Morris said it has been "super fun" hanging out with friends again.

"We're going to work hard every week to ensure there are no problemos making this new film for humans," they added.

How did fans react to The Inbetweeners 3 teaser?

The brief teaser for The Inbetweeners 3 was met with quite a mixed response on X.

One person wrote: "I fear this will be rubbish.

"Some classics best left in the past.

"I hope to be wrong!"

Responding to that, another said: "I don’t think so, they know how sentimental the old series is, they wouldn’t of brought it back if the script wasn’t good enough."

Another posted: "It will probably be a load of rubbish but I can guarantee you I’ll be there on release day."

One person had a more settled response to the teaser, as they said: "The fact that it’s being done by the same people is promising.

"The original series was lightning in a bottle and I don’t think the films were all that great, especially the second one.

"Cautiously optimistic."

Another commented: "Just make sure this isnt a sanitised version and its still as rude and crude as the original."
