Boots has revealed the locations of the first lot of stores it will be closing as part of its plan to shut 300 sites across the UK in the next 12 months.

Boots revealed last month it would be closing 300 stores in the UK in the next year which will see it reduce its portfolio from 2,200 to 1,900 sites.

The stores being closed are said to be those in close proximity to other sites.

Boots, revealing the 300 closures last month, said there are no proposed redundancies despite the plan, with affected workers to be redeployed.

A Boots spokeswoman said: “Evolving the store estate in this way allows Boots to concentrate its team members where they are needed and focus investment more acutely in individual stores with the ambition of consistently delivering an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.”

The 7 Boots stores closing

According to iNews, Boots has confirmed the first seven stores that will be closing down over the next 12 months. 

The first closure will take place later this month.

The seven Boots stores closing are:

  • Heathside Road, Woking (end of July)
  • UEA campus (end of July)
  • Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea (1 August)
  • Windhill Road, Wakefield (6 October)

  • Upper Warrengate, Wakefield (7 October)
  • Glastonbury (13 October)
  • Guildford Road, Woking (end of October)

A spokesperson for Boots, talking to iNews, said: “We can confirm that the stores listed are part of the Boots store consolidation programme previously announced.

“All team members from these stores will be offered alternative roles.”
