The Duke of Cambridge has carried out the first in-person investitures since the start of the pandemic and has said he is "pleased to be back".

Sharing his thoughts on Twitter, William signed a message reading: "Pleased to be back doing investitures in person, celebrating people across the UK who have gone above and beyond for their country and community. W".

The duke shared the message with a photo of an honour placed on a velvet cushion at Windsor Castle.

Among those that received the royal award is England and Manchester United footballer Marus Rashford with an MBE for his campaign to feed and support vulnerable children and families.

The Duke also honoured Dame Shelia Hancock, with a dame commander for her service to drama and charity.

Dame Hancock has been on screen and stage since the 1960s and has become a part of British cultural life.
