The Entertainer is celebrating its 40th birthday by walking through memory lane of some of the best Christmas toys of all time.

The family-owned high street retailer has been looking back over its four decade history at its top selling toys.

LEGO wins out overall as its most popular toy of the last 40 years.

While, our favourite board game was revealed as the classic property-trading game Monopoly.

80s kids fo you remember what you Christmases looked like?

The Entertainer expects them to include all of its favourites from Cabbage Patch Kids and Care Bears toĀ  Rubikā€™s Cubes.

Its other most popular toys wereĀ Sylvanian Families, My Little Pony andĀ Transformers.

Unsuprisingly, Star Wars toys were also popular due to the releases ofĀ Episodes 5 and 6 of the franchise.

The 80s were unique for their iconic rainbow-coloured Koosh balls that used to appear in millions of Christmas stockings every year.

Top toys in the 1990s

Every 90s will remember the desperation to find a Buzz Lightyear following the release of the 1995 hit film Toy Story.

The intergalatic hero was originally called Lunar Larry and we have to say, we're glad that they changed it.

Other popular toys in the 1990s includedĀ Furbys, Power Rangers, Tamagotchis and Teletubbies.

It was also common to seeĀ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Thunderbirds Tracy Island and Pogs.

WWF Wrestlers were popular Christmas toys before the brandĀ renamed itself to WWE in 2002.

Bob the Builder owned the 200s with his hit Christmas number one single and his title as the most popular Christmas toy of 2001.

Beyblades span into existence in the early 2000s, becoming one of the most popular toy lines on the planet.

Kids swapped out their barbies for Bratz dolls and younger children fell in love with theĀ In The Night Garden toys.

Top toys in the 2010s

The 2010s saw a wave of nostalgia as they returned to the top selling toy list.

Loom Bands hit the playgrounds with fans turning these colourful elastic bands into entire necklaces, bracelets and even dresses and jackets.

We all remember the frenzy aroundĀ Disney's Frozen which had children around the world make Anna, Elsa and Olaf their must-have playtime friends.

And 2016 saw the revival of the messiest hit game in the Entertainer's history.

Pie Face saw families spend Christmas day covering each other in whipped cream after a viral video gave the 1960s game a new lease of life.
