Hampton Court Palace has announced the designers of a new magic garden that will open in 2015.

Robert Myers Associates will start building the £1.5m family area next year, taking inspiration from the palace’s stories, legends and mythology, as well as its unique architecture.

Children and adults will be able to enjoy special features including a play area. Youngsters will climb the tiltyard towers and explore a mythical beast’s lair.

Robert Myers, director of Robert Myers Associates, said: “We want the new garden to draw on the richness of its surroundings and the myriad historical associations of the site, creating a unique space for learning, recreation and play, where children are encouraged to explore, climb and walk on the grass.”
