Unemployed young people have been encouraged to apply for a place on an apprenticeship scheme.
Richmond Council’s way to work initiative has been looking for youngsters who are keen to join businesses in the area and earn while they learn.
Its scheme will provide students with opportunities in jobs including business administration, customer service and childcare, as an alternative choice to further education.
Councillor Christine Percival, strategic cabinet member for education, youth and children’s services at Richmond Council, said: “Way to work gives young people the chance to get ahead in a tough market, whatever you want to do in life it can be your first step towards a fulfilling career.”
