Campaigners against the sale of Twickenham Film Studios to property developer Taylor Wimpey are staging a protest this weekend in St Margarets, amid rumours the sale is a done deal.

Members from Save Twickenham Film Studios (STFS) will meet in Crown Road on Saturday, April 14, at noon, to protest against the studios being sold for residential use.

The group is taking to the streets tomorrow amid rumours the sale between the administrator in charge of the studios, Begbies Traynor, will agree a sale with Taylor Wimpey next week.

However, a spokesman for Taylor Wimpey said nothing had been finalised with the sale and could not confirm anything yet.

Campaign leader Maria Walker said: “We’re just really going to go for the jugular. We’re trying to be quite aggressive with Wimpey and say you are not wanted here.”

Tennyson Avenue resident Sarah Meagher, who has just joined the campaign, said: “We do not believe the proper process has been followed by the administrators, owners and Taylor Wimpey as the property has not been openly marketed and no other purchasers have been given time to make proposals.”
