A fundraiser celebrated her 40th birthday by organising a boat party in aid of research into pancreatic cancer.

Becky Davis, from Teddington, took her guests on an evening cruise along the Thames from Kingston to Richmond, making £1,600 from a raffle and sponsorship.

She chose the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund (PCRF) as her charity after her father Jack Leggett died from the disease in 2000. She also raised £2,000 running this year’s London Marathon.

She said: “One of the problems is that there aren’t enough tests to diagnose this cancer - we didn't know my dad had this cancer until really late - and this is something that charities like the PCRF are working so hard to address.”
