A pair of bikes, an old safe and a number of road signs were just some of the rubbish cleared from the River Crane by hard working scouts.
Youngsters from the 13th Twickenham Scouts joined forced with the Thames Angler’s Conservancy, an angling and conservation club, to clean up the river and surrounding area earlier this month.
Armed with bin bags and gloves, the scouts filled five large bags with rubbish in just two hours and pulled out a motorcycle frame, a fork-lift pallet and a large tyre.
Scout leader Sam Turner said: "I still can't get over pulling a safe out of the river. We had a good time and hopefully we can do more with the scouts soon, I want to make community work a regular thing for them."
