Walcott and Wilshere are two names England fans will recognise from the ranks of Arsenal – but a Twickenham youngster could soon be the Gooner whose name is on everyone’s lips.

Meet Luke Plange, the striker whose natural football talent has attracted interest from most of the capital’s major clubs.

He already looks like a future star of the game, having this year signed a contract to join the Arsenal Academy – and yet Luke only turned eight in November.

His mother Deborah said: “He started playing for Feltham on Sundays and pretty soon we had scouts from Chelsea, QPR, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Arsenal all asking questions.

“He had to make the decision where he wanted to play and of course he chose the one furthest away.”

The young sharpshooter has an impressive strike-rate, with 35 goals so far this season for his side Feltham U8 Whites, while also managing to hit the back of the net in all but one of his games for Arsenal.

Luke’s father Stefano said he was very proud of his son and had no problem making the effort to take him to every game.

Mr Plange, a social worker, added: “It’s a huge commitment.

“We go to training three nights a week and most weekends there are two games.”

Luke, who has two brothers, Noah, six, and Oscar, four, certainly has no end of ambition.

The Trafalgar Junior School student, who has played for the Gunners since he was just six, said: “When I grow up I want to make it to the top level.

“I want to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo.”

And his parents will be there every step of the way.

Mrs Plange, who runs her own publishing company, said: “So long as he is still enjoying it then we will do everything to support his passion.

“I just hope his brothers choose something a bit less time consuming.”
