Nuisance neighbours who held “antisocial” parties causing “serious distress” to elderly residents have been slapped with Asbos in a landmark ruling for Heathfield.

Seema Soni, 45, and her 18-year-old son Deepak, of Glamorgan Road, Hampton Wick, have been banned from hosting gatherings with more than five people or making “excessive noise” anywhere in Richmond or Hounslow for two years.

Officers from Heathfield’s safer neighbourhood team (SNT) obtained their first ever stand-alone antisocial behaviour order - which does not need the offenders to be convicted - after presenting their evidence to Richmond Magistrates’ Court on February 4.

Sergeant Rhiannon Ivens, of Heathfield SNT, said: “This is a monumental decision. Most of the victims in this case were at court to hear the result and are delighted.

“Seema Soni and her son Deepak Soni caused residents in my ward, some of whom are elderly and particularly vulnerable, serious distress.

“These stand-alone Asbos will send out a clear message that we will not tolerate antisocial behaviour.

“I would like to thank everyone for their involvement in this case, especially the witnesses and the local authority.”

Richmond police have obtained four stand-alone Asbos since they were introduced. The last one was in 2005.
