Train passengers were expecting a third day of disruption on the rail network today as the big freeze continues to grip the capital.

South West Trains (SWT) is expected to run reduced and amended services today.

A revised timetable will be in operation for the London Waterloo to Reading, Windsor and Kingston via Richmond service.

There will be no service on the Hampton Court branch.

SWT advised rugby fans travelling to Barbarians v South Africa match at Twickenham Stadium tomorrow should leave plenty of time for their journey.

Tomorrow services are expected to return to normal, with only minor alterations, the train operator said.

Information about Monday's train services will be issued tomorrow, SWT said.

SWT said commuters should check their route before travelling today and leave extra time for their journey.

The train operator apologised for disruption to its services.

Andy Pitt, SWT managing director, said: "We are doing our best in partnership with Network Rail to keep passengers updated and our trains moving.

"We understand the impact this is having on our customers, and would like to thank them for their patience and understanding during these difficult conditions.

"The severe weather conditions are expected to continue over the weekend.

"We have put in place a revised timetable for Saturday to ensure we can make the best use of the resources we have available.

"On Sunday we plan to operate services as normal with some minor alterations. However, our advice to passengers is that they should continue to check for updates before they travel and allow longer for their journeys."
