The chief executive of Richmond Theatre has stepped down from the role.

Karin Gartzke is leaving the post after 12 years at the Little Green Theatre and will take up a position of business development director in the Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), which owns and runs the theatre.

Mrs Gartzke praised the “dedicated, creative and inspirational” team at the theatre and aid it had been a tough decision to stand down.

She added: “I have immensely enjoyed my time here, and am proud of what the theatre has achieved in these twelve years.

“I know that under the management of ATG, Richmond Theatre will continue to thrive, remaining at the heart of the community by presenting the best possible shows and continuing to offer inspirational education and community work. “ Councillor Geoffrey Samuel, Richmond Council deputy leader - who has been an authority appointed trustee of the theatre for 12 years, said the theatre had gone from strength to strength in Mrs Gartzke’s time.

He added: “She has ensured that the theatre offers the residents a first rate, varied theatre programme. “As a councillor, I am particularly impressed by Karin’s commitment to the education programme that the theatre runs for the benefit of local children.”

A new general manager for the theatre will be announced in due course.
