Anyone choosing to run 30 marathons in 35 days would be forgiven for putting their feet up afterwards.

But 25-year-old Jason Arday had other things on his mind, as he celebrated completing the epic challenge by racing to the nearest take-away and tucking into some fish and chips.

The college lecturer, from Clapham, completed the gruelling challenge on Sunday at Piccadilly Circus after enduring daily ice baths and a hairline fracture to his leg - all while studying for a Master’s degree.

Dozens of friends and supporters joined Mr Arday to run the last two miles of his final marathon, while crowds gathered at the finishing line at Piccadilly Circus to meet the multiple-marathon runner.

He said: “In the final two miles of the final marathon, there were 50 people alongside me.

“It was surreal, running through the centre of London - cars were stopping for me, people were cheering.”

The Richmond College sports lecturer celebrated the end of the challenge with a visit to the fish and chip shop on Monday morning, admitting all he could think about for the final miles of his last marathon was tucking into the dish.

The sports-mad father of one has so far raised more than £6,000 for the homelessness charity Shelter and the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice.

Karen Peffer, Shooting Star’s challenge events fundraiser, said: “Jason is such an amazing person, it is a real privilege to have someone so unique and inspirational fundraising for our charity.

“This has been an exceptional challenge and we are so proud.”

In total, Mr Arday has raised more than £100,000 for charity since he began fundraising when he was 17.

He said: “Charity is my life, but I wouldn't be able to do what I have done without the support of so many people.”

And Mr Arday is already thinking about his next challenge, but has ruled out more running. He said: “I don't think anyone will sponsor me for it again.”
