The Museum of Richmond's current record-breaking exhibition will only be open for one more month.

Paintings by pre-Raphaelite artist Arthur Hughes will be on show until March 13.

The four-month run has seen attendance levels up by 400 per cent on the same period last year. Many visitors are making repeat visits, before the pictures are returned to their owners.

Nine of the 28 paintings on show belong to private collectors and are unlikely to be exhibited in public again.

Hughes was never officially a member of the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood but he played a significant part in the movement of the 1850s, and he was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy.

He moved to Kew in 1892 and lived there until his death in 1915.

Admission to the Museum of Richmond costs £2 for adults, with half-price concessions, and free entry for children.

The museum is on the second floor of the Old Town Hall, Whittaker Avenue, Richmond.
