March 21, 2001 15:50: LDV Trophy Southern Final
Brentford 2 Southend 1
Brentford win 4-2 on aggregate
Brentford won through to the LDV Final following a tense 2-1 win over Southend at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.
The Bees got off to a flying start when Ingimarsson fired home from 10 yards following a Paul Evans free kick, on 12 minutes.
Southend came back into the match when Damon Searle's 20-yard free kick was deflected into the net by Brentford defender David Theobald on 26 minutes.
The second half saw Southend pile on the pressure and only a fine save from substitute keeper Paul Smith and goal line clearances from Martin Rowlands and Darren Powell kept Brentford level on the night.
It was left to Lloyd Owusu to settle Brentford nerves when he converted a Paul Gibbs cross12 minutes from time to seal the victory.
The Bees will contest the final, which will be held at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium, against Port Vale on April 22.
