Richmond traders have told the Health Committee of the Council that they are in favour of imposing a ban on dogs in food shops and restaurants.
The committee has now agreed to ask the Association of Municipal Corporations to promote legislation which would lead to such a ban being put into effect.
Cuts in the Education service have been approved by Surrey Education Committee. They will not be disclosed until after the County Council's budget meeting next month.
It is hoped that the cuts will not detrimentally affect the essential services as they exist at present.
Campaign for an increase in the basic pensions of the war disabled will be launched at a meeting at St John's Hall, Richmond next Friday. The town has the highest percentage of war disabled in the country, mainly due to the Star and Garter Home and the Poppy Factory.
