Traffic was delayed for about ten minutes at the corner of York Street yesterday afternoon by reason of a block which occurred there. Speedily some twenty vehicles were all in a heap, and it was some time ere the efforts of the solitary policeman on duty succeeded in getting matters straight again.
At a town meeting convened by the Mayor of Richmond on Thursday night, and very well attended, it was resolved to hold two days of Coronation festivities in Richmond, including a Venetian fete and a masquerade procession; and a strong committee was appointed to make arrangements. Over £200 was collected in the room.
The work of laying the wood blocks in the tram lines has commence in places. The rails have now been laid in position all along York Street, and the trench for the cable has been dug for a considerable distance along the Richmond Road.
