After a few days of relief from the wintery weather, west London was once struggling to cope after a fresh snowfall today.

The disruption looks set to continue until the end of the week, as the Met Office predicts more light snow for this evening, and tomorrow morning.

However, temperatures are expected to rise on Friday to about 6°C.

South West Trains is reporting "severe disruption" to services, including cancellations and delays of up to two hours on many routes.

Trains between Hampton Court and Waterloo will terminate pr start at Surbiton.

Passengers are advised to call the information helpline for train services across the UK before they travel, on 08453 017 641.

Buses on route 371 are unable to travel in Tudor Drive, and have been diverted via Richmond Road. Buses on route 63 and 363 buses cannot go up Sydenham Hill, and so will stop at Honor Oak.

Due to a burst water main at Medfield Street, routes 85, 170, 430 and 493 are being diverted and are subject to delays.

In Richmond, all schools were open as normal today with the exception of Christ's School.

St John the Baptist Junior School is closed for all children except those in year 6.

In Hounslow, Heston Community School and Brentford School for Girls were only open for students taking exams today, and Oaklands School will be closed tomorrow.

All other schools are open as normal.

Waste and recycling crews are attempting to carry out normal scheduled collections, but icy conditions and traffic congestion mean that it is unlikely that all collections will be completed.

This may have an impact on collections scheduled for tomorrow.
