Two police officers were allegedly attacked by a teenager who had just been smashed over the head with a bottle.

The 19-year-old head-butted one policeman and kicked his colleague after they turned up to reports of a fight outside Yates pub in Lampton Road, Hounslow, police said.

A police spokesman said two men had bottled the man's 21-year-old brother as he stood at a bus stop opposite Yates. The 19-year-old then rushed out of the pub, but the men, who were black, also hit him with a bottle and head-butted his girlfriend before fleeing, the spokesman said.

The officers, both aged in their 30s, were flagged down and arrived to find the injured teenager at around 10.50pm on Saturday - but he allegedly started to fight with the officers while they tried to find out details of the attack.

The officers were later treated for minor injuries, and the three victims were taken by ambulance to West Middlesex Hospital.

Police arrested and interviewed the 19-year-old three days later before releasing him on bail until October.
