TRANSPORT Commissioner, Bob Kiley, met with senior councillors and officers last week before taking a whistlestop tour around Hounslow to look at the various transport-related projects currently under way across the borough.
The two-hour trip took in a number of sites including developments along the A4 ‘Golden Mile’, plans for proposed bus lanes and other local area improvements along Chiswick High Road, the Chiswick Business Park interchange and issues around the Piccadilly Line and Turnham Green tube station and the town centre redevelopments at Brentford, Hounslow and Feltham, and their associated transport links.
They also discussed issues relating to the likely increase in traffic, both on the roads and on public transport (approximately 27 million additional passengers), as a result of the proposed third runway.
The aim of the visit was to look at all aspects of the local transport network, considering accessibility, road safety and the general streetscape, as well as providing an opportunity for the council to raise issues of concern.
