A BENCH has been installed in the middle of Isleworth's Ivybridge estate in memory of Tom Reader, founder and first Chair of the Isleworth Community Group, and his wife Dolly.
The driving force behind the battle to achieve permission for the bench was estate resident John Branch, who had been a good friend of Tom and wife Dolly for several years. John liaised with Hounslow Homes for several weeks until the details were agreed.
Speaking after the "unveiling ceremony", John commented: "Tom and Dolly were good friends to me and I wanted to do something to ensure that they will always be remembered."
Councillor Muston said: "They were two lovely people. Tom was the driving force behind the ICG in the early days and Dolly was always there to lend support."
Tom passed away in July this year while Dolly died following a short illness in 2000.
