A Richmond artist will have her life’s work celebrated in a Twickenham exhibition.
Jane Spencer, who died in 2007 from cancer aged 63, will have her paintings, prints and ceramics displayed at Orleans House Gallery, Twickenham, from February 14 until April 12.
Councillor Liz Jaeger, cabinet member for youth, culture and leisure, said Jane Spencer was a key figure in the borough’s artistic community and a talented individual who is still sorely missed.
Spencer, born in Dewsbury, moved to Richmond in the early ninties where she set up two art studios.
Her work was displayed in many venues, including West Middlesex Hospital and Osterley House.
Mark De Novellis, Orleans House Gallery curator, said this exhibition explores and charts Jane’s creative forays both formally and conceptually and shows this body of work conveys a strong sense of cohesion, integrity and purpose.
