The Liberal Democrats have secured total control of a London council.
They now hold all 54 seats on Richmond upon Thames after gaining five in the local elections.
This success cements their dominance in the borough, where they previously held 49 seats, gaining five additional seats from the Green Party.

The council has traditionally been Conservative-controlled but has become a key stronghold for the Liberal Democrats in recent years.
The party regained control in 2018 and expanded its majority in 2022.
The Conservatives lost their final remaining seat in a 2024 council by-election.
