A person is fighting for their life in hospital after a stabbing at a south London train station.
Police were called to reports of a “serious” assault at Barnes train station at around 7.10am today (September 26).
London Ambulance Service crews also attended and found a person who had been stabbed.
They were taken to hospital for treatment where their injuries were assessed as life threatening.
Officers remain at the scene with no trains calling at the station as the incident is being dealt with.
Disruption is expected until 12pm.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to Barnes railway station at around 7.10am today (26 September) following reports of a serious assault.
"Paramedics also attended, and a person was taken to hospital with injuries that are consistent with stabbing and are considered to be life threatening.
“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 89 of 26 September.”
A spokesperson for National Rail said: "Trains are currently unable to call at Barnes in either direction due to the police dealing with an incident at the station.
"You may use your ticket on London Bus routes 33 and 337 in the Barnes area at no extra cost."
