A spokesperson for the Mayor of London said Sadiq Khan’s thoughts are with all those impacted by violence in the capital.

It added that nothing is more important to Khan than keeping Londoners safe and he is “determined” to bring down all forms of violence.

It explained: “Sadiq has put record City Hall funding into the police to try and fill the gap left by national Government cuts since 2010.

“The Mayor has committed to recruiting an extra 1,300 neighbourhood police officers and PCSOs to make communities safer and bear down on knife crime, as well as tackling the causes of crime by providing record funding for prevention through his Violence Reduction Unit.”

The Mayor of London’s office says that Khan is investing more in youth clubs to help steer thousands of young Londoners away from gangs and crime.

They added: “He is also redoubling efforts to reduce violence against women and girls, and supporting the Met to deliver the vital reforms our police service needs as we work to build a safer London for everyone.”
