FOREST Research has recently published a new Research Report – ‘Wood properties and uses of larch in Great Britain’.

This is an official publication aimed at forest scientists, engineers, wood processors and end users of wood products.

This report “collates and synthesises” research into the production and use of larch timber in the UK, drawing on information from a range of published and unpublished studies.

A Forest Research statement added: “It is written for forest scientists, engineers, wood processors and end users of wood products who are seeking to determine the potential end uses of larch.

“The report is divided into three parts: (1) distribution of larch, including introduction of different species into Great Britain and the current extent of the resource; (2) the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of larch wood and their variation; and (3) suitability of larch timber for different end products.”

The publication is available as a PDF, which can be downloaded from here.
